Job Description Our direct client, located in the Bronx, is seeking a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) to provide support to participants in our Community Resources for Employment and Development Program (CRED NYC). This full-time role is essential to promoting the mental health, emotional well-being, and self-management skills of participants engaging in CRED NYC. The LMHP will deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health support through a combination of individual counseling and small-group sessions. The role also includes conducting mental health assessments, coordinating access to supportive services, and collaborating with program staff to ensure participants are fully supported throughout their training and career development. This position requires schedule flexibility, including availability for morning, evening, and Saturday shifts across multiple sites. Hours and locations may vary based on seasonal and programmatic needs. Key Responsibilities Individual and Group Counseling Provide regular, trauma-informed one-on-one and group counseling sessions tailored to the needs of participants aged 18–40 impacted by community violence or criminal justice involvement. Address social-emotional learning, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Utilize strengths-based and culturally responsive approaches. Participant Mental Health Assessment Conduct initial biopsychosocial assessments during program intake to identify mental health needs and inform individualized service plans. Collaborate with case managers to update Individual Service Strategies (ISS) with behavioral health goals. Crisis Intervention and Referral Deliver immediate support during mental health crises and facilitate referrals to external mental health providers when needed. Create and maintain a mental health referral plan and provide all-staff training on procedures. Integration with Program Services Collaborate with case managers, job developer, training instructors, and outreach staff through regular case conferencing to ensure ' mental health needs are coordinated with other wraparound supports. Serve as a resource to program staff on best practices in trauma-informed care and behavioral health support. Supervision and Coaching Provide coaching and consultation to case managers on client engagement strategies and trauma-sensitive approaches. Support the development of staff capacity through mental health-related training and staff wellness initiatives. Data and Documentation Maintain confidential, timely, and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with program standards and city compliance. Track participant mental health outcomes and contribute to DYCD reports and internal evaluations. Professional Collaboration and Training Participate in DYCD-required training and professional development on mental health supports and best practices. Remain current on emerging trends, techniques, and tools in mental health, especially for justice-impacted populations. Qualifications Skills & Requirements Licensed Mental Health Professional, must be registered Master's from an accredited school Trauma-Informed training and skills, preferred Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience Experience working with youth and adults from underserved communities Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, and travel to various locations in the Manhattan and the Bronx Specialized Skills And Competencies Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Demonstrated experience working with high-need/underserved high school students and young adults Self-directed with the ability to work independently Strong presentation skills, with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to lead innovative and meaningful programming that resonates with participants Strong organizational and computer skills Proven ability to apply independent judgment in planning, prioritizing, and organizing multiple tasks with attention to detail and time management Flexibility and adaptability are essential Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships Physical Demands The role requires normal mental and visual attention, along with manual coordination. Work is performed in lighted, heated, and ventilated areas, with occasional interruptions to workflow. Duties involve regular periods of sitting, standing, or walking and the ability to work at a computer for sustained periods. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Travel to all campuses and program sites is required.
