Job Description Annual Salary: $200k-$240k (varies depending on
years of experience) A mission-driven healthcare organization
serving diverse communities across New York City is seeking a
board-certified Psychiatrist to step into a leadership role as
Assistant Medical Director. This position offers a unique blend of
clinical practice and administrative oversight, ideal for a
physician who is passionate about both patient care and
system-level impact. The Assistant Medical Director will provide
direct psychiatric care while supporting the strategic and
operational goals of the behavioral health department. This role is
approximately 70% clinical and 30% administrative, with
responsibilities spanning patient care, supervision, quality
improvement, and program development. Key Responsibilities: Deliver
psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and follow-up care
to a diverse patient population. Collaborate with primary care and
behavioral health teams to ensure integrated, trauma-informed care.
Supervise and mentor psychiatric nurse practitioners and other
clinical staff. Participate in case conferences and
interdisciplinary team meetings. Assist in the development and
implementation of clinical protocols and workflows. Support quality
improvement initiatives and monitor clinical performance metrics.
Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and training of behavioral health
providers. Help ensure compliance with regulatory standards and
best practices. Participate in strategic planning and expansion of
behavioral health services. Requirements: MD or DO with Board
Certification in Psychiatry. Active New York State medical license
and DEA registration. Minimum 3 years of clinical experience;
leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Experience working
with underserved populations or in community health settings is
highly desirable. Strong communication, organizational, and
team-building skills. Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
