Functions as an emergency response medical professional that
administers immediate medical care to victims of accidents,
violence, and sudden illnesses such as cardiac arrests or strokes.
Provides pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care
from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the
accepting medical facility.\n\n Job Duties Represents the ambulance
service while on duty at public service functions, expositions, and
other public events and provides ambulance stand by services when
necessary. \n Documents full assessment and treatments in patient
care charting software. \n Cares for patients in psychiatric,
medical, and traumatic crisis by providing medical, traumatic, and
therapeutic services. \n Serves as a member of a two-member
ambulance crew responding to emergency and non-emergency calls. \n
Operates equipment such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external
defibrillators, and electrocardiograms for advanced life support
applications. \n Assesses the nature and extent of injury or
illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be
followed such as stabilization, immobilization, lifting, and moving
of victims from scene of any accident or catastrophe. \n Responds
to instructions from a dispatcher and drives and operates specially
equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations at a safe and
controlled speed. \n Administers drugs via injection, intravenous
procedures, or oral administration under the direction of a
physician. \n Communicates with professional medical personnel at
emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding
treatment. \n Cleans and decontaminates ambulance after
transporting or treating any patient with infectious disease and
reports infectious disease to relevant authorities. Minimum
Qualifications High School Diploma/GED Ability to assess needs of
acute and chronically ill patients and their families. \n Ability
to document and communicate pertinent information using computer
and/or paper documentation tools. \n Demonstrates age-specific
competencies in the care of neonates, infants, toddlers,
pre-schoolers, school aged, adolescents, adults, and geriatric
patients. \n Knowledge of infection control procedures and safety
precautions. \n Must be able to apply advance knowledge and
training, developing and executing a plan of care, and rapidly
intervene in life-saving procedures. ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular
Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire and \n PALS -
Pediatric Advanced Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
and \n American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of
Pennsylvania Upon Hire and \n EMSVO Certification - State of
Pennsylvania Upon Hire and \n PA EMT-P Paramedic - State of
Pennsylvania Upon Hire or \n NREMT-Paramedic-National Reg of
EMT-Medic - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire and \n DL - Driver's
License_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire Preferred
Qualifications Associate’s Degree 2 years experience in advanced
life support service \n 1 year pre-hospital paramedic experience.
NREMT-Paramedic-National Reg of EMT-Medic - State of Pennsylvania
Upon Hire or \n Pre-Hospital RN - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Physical Demands Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry
80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting,
kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead. Job Description
