Experience Description: The Registered Professional Nurse is
responsible and accountable for prescribing and coordinating all
nursing care as defined by the Nursing Practice Act. Interventions
are carried out in collaboration with care providers and other
members of the healthcare team in response to patient and family
needs. The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for care
delivery and renders services to patients ranging from newborns to
adults. The registered nurse will provide nursing care to all
patients in need. Assesses patients' physical, social, behavioral,
and mental status through direct observation, interview, and
medical record review. Includes assessment from history and data
collection obtained from the patient and/or care providers.
Determines mobility, sensory deficits, and skin condition,
adjusting the plan of care as appropriate. Documents a nursing
assessment including psychosocial and environmental factors,
educational level, and needs. Obtains and reviews available data
and any data collected by other members of the health team.
Identifies medical problems resulting from psychological or mental
illness and the use of medications. Communicates findings with
other members of the health team. Identifies and addresses needs
for admission based on acute medical or surgical diagnoses and
presenting symptoms. Identifies and addresses patient education and
learning needs. Makes appropriate referrals to other disciplines
and documents the same. Involves standing, walking, sitting,
talking, hearing, and bending. May include some repetitive motions.
Must be willing to float to ICU with no exceptions. Demonstrates
management of clinical skills in the provision of nursing care and
patient management. Provides health teaching and medication
instructions to patients and next of kin. Ensures that all
procedures are performed based on established standards of care.
Acts as a patient advocate. Revises patients' plans of care based
on evaluation of interventions and expected outcomes in
collaboration with other health care team members. Ability to
communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing is
