This contract opportunity is designed for a skilled float nurse with progressive care unit (PCU) expertise who can confidently manage step-down and acute care holds, with a preference for candidates who also have emergency department experience. The role demands adaptability, clinical precision, and a readiness to collaborate across units to enhance patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care for step-down and acute care patients in a float nurse capacity supporting the emergency department holds. Utilize clinical judgment and nursing knowledge to assess, plan, and implement nursing interventions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care. Accurately document patient care using Cerner electronic health records. Participate actively in orientation and mandatory training components as required. Qualifications and Desired Experience: Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey or compact nursing license. Proven inpatient nursing experience, specifically within PCU/step-down units; emergency department experience is advantageous. Current certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale AHA approved). Strong clinical assessment skills and proficiency with Cerner charting system. Ability to complete a structured orientation process without rescheduling. Schedule: 48-hour contract over four 12-hour shifts. Weekend every other schedule. One paid holiday per contract as needed. Contract length of 8 weeks with potential for extension. Return to work commitment of no more than 3 days. Orientation and Onboarding:Orientation begins virtually, with scheduled in-person training sessions following. Timely completion of all orientation modules and classes is mandatory. Badge appointment and photo submission are conducted in person during orientation.
